1. BANKROLL

The first thing you need and want to think about is your bankroll. A bankroll is an amount of money you have to invest in sports with. This is money you have set aside that does not effect your life expenses. At the end of the day, this is still gambling. Anything can happen.

2. UNIT SIZE

A unit is the amount of money that you are wagering on a play. Based off of your bankroll starting amount, a unit will be a set percentage of your bankroll. I recommend 1-5% of your bankroll to be wagered per straight bet. The higher the percentage, the higher the confidence is in the wager.

3. DISCIPLINE

Discipline is extremely hard to have in this industry. Whenever money is involved, you will have high or low emotions. If you can control these emotions and understand that one day will not make or break you, then you are already better than 99% of people who get into sports investing. Take a losing day on the chin, and grow your bankroll the right way when you win.

4. PATIENCE

Patience goes hand in hand with discipline but it needs to addressed separately.
